Huge trend in the 80’s, it regrets strongly in nowadays’s outfits: it is the sheep pile’s jacket!
Before I start talking about the trend itself, let’s make things clear: I really hate the use of fur in outfits, so I searched about sheep pile’s use and I realised it is not an aggression to the animals. The sheep’s pile works like our hair: we cut and it grows again. Still I prefer using the fake versions, anyway, it is not even close to the aggression the animals suffer as they do when people get off their fur, which causes pain and death.
Once I’ve made that theory clear, let’s talk about its history!
Sheep’s pile comes from the countryside, long time ago before it became trendy in the 1980’s. As it is a really warm fabric, field’s habitants used to take off their sheep’s piles in order to make winter’s outfits.
Its much more a sportswear than anything else: the sheep’s pile has a rustic mood, so you can match with it kind of other rustic fabrics, such as leather, chamois, denim or sweatshirt. The more creativity you put in your outfit, the more interest it becomes.
This kind of completion, made by the sheep’s pile also appears on accessories, not only in pieces of clothes. You can also find it in shoes. If you like it, there are such great alternatives for you.
It is good to remember that, once it is a trend of 80’s, you can find a sheep’s pile jacket in your dad/mom/grandma’s closet – which really worths! Better than revive an ancient trend is to do it with a vintage piece. Enjoy the tip!
Xx and see you in the next post!
