This event, unfortunately has ended this last Sunday (September 4th), but I think it worths talk about it and, specially, about the books I’ve bought (although I don’t know if all of them have english versions).
In a physical space of 60.000 m², the Anhembi Expo Center has sheltered about 480 thousands of books and editors and received more than 700.000 of visitors, between August 26th and September 4th, 2016.
I am a really fan of reading, so I’ve just had to go there and see the event by myself – specially because it happens once in two years. To me, the most interactive stand was the Saraiva one. Besides it was a “double stand”, the place allowed so many visitors activity such as taking pictures in the iron throne of Game of Thrones, also taking pictures in the wall in which was written “I love to read”, in Portuguese (picture is above) and sending post-its messages to their favorite authors. Simple and lovely ideas.
Another stand that called my attention was the “Top Livros”, in which you could buy any book, from any year and any size only for 10 reais (something similar to 2 pounds or 3 dollars). I’ve bought two books there, that I’ll show you later here in this post.
Rocco’s stand was pretty as well, and called my attention, too because of the 9 3/4 Platform from Harry Potter’s movie/story. They’ve built a generic version of the London’s platform in which, of course, I’ve had to take a picture. I couldn’t take it in London, but here in Brazil I could!
I also found some books in lower price, like the Illustrated Biography of Beatles that you see below. From 120 reais (almost similar to 40 dollars), I’ve bought this one for 49 reais (which is like 16 dollars, more or less). As a great fan of the band, so as my mom, I’ve had to get it as a souvenir.
The food there wasn’t exactly something we could call “very cheap”, still, it has an accessible price and good quality. I’ve had lunch at “Sí Señor Tex Mex“, a Mexican place, and I really liked it. I’ve ate a vegetarian burrito that was delicious and was enough to stop my hanger mood for the hole afternoon. LOL.
Let’s talk briefly about the books I’ve bought. Maybe you’ve already know some of them:
Most of them I’ve chosen for obvious reasons that I’ll let to explain later in a video. Then I’ll talk a little bit about each of those books, in my YouTube Channel.
For those who have never been there or already have heard about it but have never had the opportunity to go, I really advice you to go. It is an investment that really worths. The ticket is R$ 25 (something around 5 pounds/7 dollars) and students pay half of the entrance. People older than 60 years don’t pay.
You can also find further information in the official website, that probably changes, according to the edition.
Xx and see you in the next tip!
